Tips for Creating an Online Store

How do I use a custom domain?

1. You must register your domain name. Companies you can buy from are GoDaddy , myDomain, register.com, etc).  Skip this step if you already own a domain name.

2. Follow the instructions for the company you choose.

I’m new to all this website stuff, but I was wondering if I could “connect” multiple domain names to my FlyingCart store. For example, I currently own SimplyBabyMe.com but would like to purchase SimplyNursingCovers.com. Can both of these domains work for my Flying Cart store, or would I have to have 2 stores? Thanks for the info…Karen

Karen – Yes you can do that. Just setup your main domain to your flying cart store using the instructions above.

Set all the other domains to forward to your Flying Cart store.

I’m having trouble trying to figure out my forwarding. The instructions for getting my cart pointed to my website. I own the urls through GoDaddy, which show the DNS settings as “Not Hosted Here.” The nameservers are pointed to 1&1, where my hosting only has a place for a CNAME and no Alias.

What do I point my name servers to, or do I leave them as is?

Through GoDaddy, I forwarded my domain to my website name, but the nameservers still show 1&1. So on 1&1 The only thing I can edit is CNAME, and it says Alias, which I made stores.flyingcart.com, because there’s no room for an alias name & host name. Did I do this correctly?

    Hi Dawn,

This is what you need to do
    1. Delete all your 1 & 1 settings
    2. Follow these instructions step by step: http://flyingcart.com/blog/godaddy-custom-domain-instructions/

There is no need for modifying your nameservers for us.

I am so confused. If anyone can help I would appreciate it. I own my own domain through freewebs and am tying to switch over to flying cart. I did the whole thing with typing it in the box that says use own domain but it doesn’t seem to be working. What else do I need to do. Also freewebs gave me a key # to unlock the domain for the transfer,…what do I do with that #. Do I even need it. =( please help. So confused.

  6. margo says:

    Adri,
Did you press the “Save” button next to the domain box? Sometimes people miss that step. Also, you need to make sure you wait 24 hours. You don’t need a key to unlock the domain in order for it to work with our system. Email customer support if you have any more questions.

Hey Wes – You get a free subdomain which is: http://prowrestlingworld.flyingcart.com/

If you want to use your own custom domain. I recommend buying one from GoDaddy.com and linking it to your Flying Cart store.

Let me know if you need help with that.
