Store networking takes off

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007 by rishi

Social networking is a huge web phenomenon, linking people to other people with similar interests on sites like Facebook and MySpace. My friend Jeremy’s life (an 8th grader) seems to revolve around his Facebook profile. That’s some powerful stuff.

In pondering the ubiquitousness of social networks on actual social real-life social lives, I wondered, can I bring the benefits of social networking to Flying Cart? In the world of online retail, it would not only help store owners meet and talk to each other, but it would also help bring in more customers by linking stores. Stores would no longer be islands, they would be part of a retail network. Voila — store networking was born!

We just launched this new feature on Monday and we are already seeing lots of our stores putting up their public profiles and finding other stores to connect with. It’s an instant hit.

selling handmade crafts

Monday, September 17th, 2007 by rishi

Getting a Flying Cart store is a great way to sell handmade arts and crafts. If you want to get a worldwide online audience for your stuff and don’t want to pay a big price for an ecommerce website, Flying Cart could be just the thing you need.

I have developed websites for lots of artists, and I know that most of them have little to no budget. This is so often the case that I have done many jobs in trade for art. Most artists I know want a way to get their stuff seen, and they want it cheap with no initial investment required. I hope more artists will catch on to Flying Cart and how useful it can be as a marketing tool.

Right now, some of my favorite crafty sites are: TJ’s Kreations and Babylicious Design

We just noticed that one of our stores is using SitePal, an automated voiceover creation tool. Take a look at how they are using it on the about page of babytownusa.flyingcart.com.
