4 Tips on Advertising your Domain Name

Tuesday, December 11th, 2007

Funny blog to learn about Good URL’s and Bad URL’s: http://www.goodurlbadurl.com/

Here a few tips on advertising your domain name

1. Don’t use ALL CAPS. For example COOLESTANDBESTDOMAINEVER.COM hurts the eyes

2. Don’t adverstise a super long link in a newspaper or magazine. For example MyStore.com/shoes/boots/laces/blue.html chances are people are less likely to remember and type in the entire URL. Posting a long link on the web is a different story.

3. The Domain lets you know what the entire store is about is HUGE. For example BagsRUs tells you exactly what their store is about in their domain.

4. If you use multiple words in your domain upper case the first letter in each word like: TimelessFavors.com

selling handmade crafts

Monday, September 17th, 2007

Getting a Flying Cart store is a great way to sell handmade arts and crafts. If you want to get a worldwide online audience for your stuff and don’t want to pay a big price for an ecommerce website, Flying Cart could be just the thing you need.

I have developed websites for lots of artists, and I know that most of them have little to no budget. This is so often the case that I have done many jobs in trade for art. Most artists I know want a way to get their stuff seen, and they want it cheap with no initial investment required. I hope more artists will catch on to Flying Cart and how useful it can be as a marketing tool.

Right now, some of my favorite crafty sites are: TJ’s Kreations and Babylicious Design

Want a HOT SEARCHABLE PRODUCT?

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

The best way to name your products and figure out what you should write in your descriptions is finding out how many people are actually searching for a specific keyword.

1. Go to http://inventory.overture.com/

2. Search for your product keywords

3. Add those keywords to your product descriptions, product name, about sections, etc.

NOTE: you want to make sure that someone is searching for it. But you also want to make sure a gazillion people are also NOT searching for it. You want to cater to a unique niche audience.
