Pin Up Cosmetics

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

Unique branding and a memorable theme can really set a store apart. Pin Up Cosmetics is a great example of memorable branding with retro artwork and style in both their store design and product packaging. Pin-up models and vintage photographs create a distinct pretty and classic style that makes Pin Up Cosmetics stand out from other cosmetic shops.

Of course Pin Up Cosmetics doesn’t just stand out because of their branding alone—they make quality cosmetics that are cruelty-free, natural and vegan-friendly.

One of our most frequently asked questions at Flying Cart is how to get started. A lot of people want to start their own business but don’t know where to start. Well, sometimes the best business ideas come from your own needs. Take Heather Robertson Warren of Madinson Wisconsin for example. She’s an elementary Bilingual Instructional Resource Teacher who had a real need for authentic Spanish literature for her students. She contacted her friend Ingnacio Muñoz from Chile to send her some books. She soon realized that there was a severe lack of bestselling children’s books from South America in the US and so she opened Books del Sur (which means Books from the South).

It may sound silly, but kids books can also help adults practice learning Spanish too. Visit Books del Sur and brush up on your Spanish reading skills.

Maybe it’s just because it’s getting close to lunchtime, but these PB&J giclee prints by Duane Keiser really hit the spot! These quaint little sandwhich paintings seem remarkably “fresh” when compared to stale ‘ol fruit still life paintings found hanging in most kitchens. Deliciously detailed from the texture of the bread to the shines in the jelly, these prints make us feel like a kid again… not to mention pretty hungry!

If you have even a passing interest in tattoos then you know Sailor Jerry. Even if not by name, you certainly know his work as it definitely does speak for itself. “Sailor Jerry” is the man behind the biggest trends in tattoos with symbols like nautical stars, snakes, dice, naval ships and pin-up girls. Fans of his work can pay homage to arguable the greatest tattoo artist who ever lived with one of these classic Sailor Jerry tattoo flash tees. What does a good gift site usually carry? We don’t know… why don’t you see for yourself! Check out A Good Gift Site for super deals on home and garden items. With a little bit of everything (from steak knives to HDTVs) the lines will begin to blur between what you need and what you really really want. (Personally I went from wanting a new mirror to really needing to redecorate my whole apartment!)

From a selling standpoint we have to commend A Good Gift Site for their extremely detailed product descriptions. Thorough product descriptions really help sell more products because your customers won’t have to go elsewhere (and possibly shop elsewhere) to do research if you present as much relevant information as possible.

Courage…Survivor Ring

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

Rugged and worn, the COURAGE/SURVIVOR ring embodies what it means to survive. While it’s intended as a cancer awareness piece (with 10% of proceeds going to the American Cancer Society or Susan G. Komen Foundation), anyone who has faced hardships can appreciate the message. The jagged edges, imperfect lettering and uneven surface give it character and show its strength. To achieve the unique distressed look the ring has been forged and hammered. The lettering is hand stamped and oxidized to give it that stark contrast.
